April Ross

April Ross has won more than one medal at the Olympics. She is among the few women beach volleyball athletes that have done so. In Tokyo over the next several days, she'll try to win her third gold medal alongside the first-time Olympian Alix Klineman. Ross hopes to win more than her first Olympic medal. At 39, it could be her last opportunity to do so. Nevertheless, she remains convinced of winning top awards. Ross on NBC Boston, said that If the team is performing very well, or even at all, it could be able to win gold. "I'm also going to try some luck." Ross was a Californian born in the city of Costa Mesa in 1982. Her family lived in the area with her mother, father and younger sister. Ross played in numerous sports during her time at Newport Harbor High School. As a prep-athlete she was also a participant in indoor volleyball and track. But she clearly was superior to the rest in the latter sport. According to her biography, she was a middle blocker and an outside hitting volleyball player during her high-school career. The award was presented to her as by the Gatorade National Circle of Champions player of the year in 1999, for her performance. She also received an Orange County Athlete of the of the year for volleyball. Ross and Klineman formed their relationship in 2017 but Ross has been a beach player for years prior to. She has won numerous events, one of which was with the legendary player of volleyball. Jennifer Kessy was her partner for six years, from 2007 until 2013. Also, she coached Klineman and herself. Kessy was Ross's partner on the 2009 World Championships. They won a Silver Medal during the 2012 Olympic Games held in London. Misty Maytreanor (Jennings) as well as Misty Maytreanor won gold, overtaking them. Ross Jennings became Walsh Jennings partner in fate after Maytreanor's retirement. They went on to compete for the bronze beach volleyball trophy at the Rio Olympics in 2016 along with Walsh Jennings. Ross played for the Trojans of USC throughout her college the years prior to her professional career. The time she spent at the school was a memorable one. In 2000 she was voted Pac-10 Freshman of the Year and NCAA Freshman of the Year, and was also an All-American. The Trojans had the chance to reach the Final Four with her help. She endured a great personal loss during her sophomore year, yet was capable of achieving the All-American award. In her final two seasons with the Trojans they helped win consecutive championships. She was a fantastic player on the court, and was awarded the Honda Sports Award in 2003-04 as the top female college volleyball player. Ross played international relations as a major at USC. Margie Ross didn't get to see Ross become the highest beach volleyball level. In 2001 when Ross was in her sophomore year at USC her mother passed away from breast cancer. In the aftermath, Ross remains close to her deceased parent. Margie is an inspiration on and off of the beach.
